What is Functional Medicine
Functional Medicine is a science-based medical practice utilized by Dr. Jeanne Stryker
at the Rose Clinic. It is widely utilized by physicians and healthcare practitioners
because it focuses on the whole body and well being of each patient, rather than
individual body functions. Its primary concentration is on prevention and underlying
causes of diseases, rather than treating symptoms. The primary principles of Functional
Medicine are:
ImmuCore packs a lot of immune system protection into its special formula. What’s
the secret? It’s designed to supply a multiple mechanistic approach to support immune
system health by boosting the functions of macrophages, natural killer cells, and
T cell subsets.1-3 This science-based formula offers a three-pronged approach to
wellness with Ultra Potent-C® combined with zinc and a concentrated blend of mushroom
extracts. Ultra Potent C has been scientifically shown to promote natural killer
cell activity and white blood cell function. 1-3
- We are biochemical individuals. Functional medicine recognizes
that each individual functions differently than another, driving metabolic functions,
genetic and environmental differences that require individual treatment plans.
- Focus on the patient, not the disease. The body is balanced by
many internal and external factors that interconnect. Research supports that the
human body functions in interconnected parts, not individual systems. For example,
research proves that dietary imbalances can cause hormone dysfunction and environmental
exposure can cause breast cancer.
- Proactivity is prevention. Functional medicine focuses on prevention
of disease through nutrition and lifestyle changes to transform body functions at
the cellular level.
- Disease is caused by clinical imbalances. Imbalances are caused
by many things, such as environment, nutrition, lifestyle and biological imbalance.
Core imbalances include hormone, detoxification, immunity, inflammatory, digestive
and structural malfunctions.
Functional medicine improves management of complex, chronic disease by intervening
at multiple levels to address these core clinical imbalances and to restore each
patient’s body functionality and health.
